UpNex: Where are you from?
Dalouse: I was born in Jacmel, Haiti and moved to Florida at the age 15.
When did you realize you wanted to model?
When I moved to Florida at 15 modeling became my goal and dream. I came
here and saw all the opportunity, they became obvious and I wanted to
go for it.
How did that turn out?
I was faced with my first obstacle of no support from my parents as a
minor. The dream was put on hold for 3 years however it didn’t go
away. Now I have the ability to go after my dream. Since getting in the
industry I have experienced great things such as meeting many people and
having opportunities to travel.
Can you clarify what are your career goals?
Currently I am working as a travel agent and attending Miami/Dade college
majoring in in travel, tourism and media entertainment with only two years
to go. My goal is to further my modeling career and be in the next campaign
for Mac or Channel. My reason for choosing Mac is that I also love to
she spends time as a make up artist. Channel is my favorite clothing line
and I would love to be a part of there campaign.
How long do you think it will take your to reach your goal?
You can never say how long it will take you but if I am really focused
and doing the right thing I know that I will get there. It could be next
year or maybe two, but I know I will get there.
What steps are you taking to reach them?
I have been involved and participating in events such as fashion week,
also exposing myself to the many parts of the industry and networking
with the right people.
What is fashion week?
It’s an expo that is done every year in major cities such as New
York, Miami as well as Haiti by LaBelle Top Model which is an agency in
Haiti.
What agencies do you work with?
I am listed with LaBelle Top Model and EMA a Spanish agency.
Give me an example of the right person?
I would say the right person is a person with the right contacts, knowing
the right people and experience in the industry already.
Who has been one of the right people for you in your career so
far?
My relationship with Haitian Sensation has been a great. He has
been a nice person who has been in the iindustry for a long time. He has
introduce me to many things and people who have been great to know. He
has as given me great advice, he is like a mentor in a sense. I have done
fashion shows with him regarding his new clothing line. I may be traveling
to Europe with him for his upcoming fashion show.
What would be something that you would like to know more about
in regards to your career?
If there was something to change about the industry knowing the easy way
to make it through. Why it is so hard for someone to make.
If you could have someone do anyone thing to assist you with
your career, what would it be? Someone to guide me along the
career and lead me to the right path.
What is the best advice you have received or one key thing that
you have learned so far?
Never give up, no matter how many times you get rejected. This is also
the advice that I would give someone else.
What do you like the most about this industry?
The glamour the trips, the attention and travel. I have been to Europe,
Africa, Brazil and New York and I am looking forward to travelingl to
many more places.
If there was something that you could change about the industry
what would it be?
Favoritism, in many cases many designers, photographers, or song writers
will pick someone that they know opposed the best person for the job.
How do you deal with that when you see it?
It doesn’t stop me I just see it and keep moving there can be a
lot of negativity in this world by I choose to focus on my goals.
What should the public expect from you next?
I am going to continue with professionalism, a hard working and someone
who will give back to the community.
What do you mean by giving back to the community?
Supporting cancer awareness (brest cancer), helping the poor and children
in Africa it can be really sad to see the children in Africa (the group
in Uganda, they have no parents and no one to turn to).
If you had million dollars to give away what would you do?
Go there and build school and hospitals and bring in doctors and a modeling
school, (lamont laughed at that part).
What photographer do you like working with the most?
Jerald is the main photographer who takes my pictures. http://www.myspace.com/imagememoires
